Getting your ECNR stamp deleted

Ask a 100 people and you will get a hundred ways to get an ECNR. But too many cooks spoil the broth. You will end up getting confused. But don’t worry. It is actually very simple.

I got my ECNR stamps this week at Bangalore and it was actually very simple.

Please note that this will be applicable for people whose passport says that the ECR check is required. Irrespective of the country listed it is always advisable to get it deleted.

it is indeed Possible to get your ECR stamp deleted from other passport offices other than the one that issued your passport. But for this purpose you will have to show a proof of address that you are indeed residing in the place where you are.

Step 1: Download and get yourself the Form number 2 and Personal particulars form (2 copies) from the government passport website: http://passport.gov.in/cpv/miscell.pdf
http://passport.gov.in/cpv/PPForm.pdf

The FEES for this is 300 Rs.

Step 2 : Fill in the form without any correction. If anything is wrong use a whitener

Step 3: You will require three passport size photographs. One on the Form Number 2 and two for each of the Personal particulars form.

Step 4: After sticking your photos cross sign the photos in the PP forms. The signature must start on the form and must end on the photo. Make sure the photo is a white background to avoid any problems.

Step 5: Once this is done, decide the type of proof that you are going to use to get the ECR stamped. The easiest document will be your 10th marksheet and 12th marksheet. You might also use your degree marksheet and certificate.

The complete list of documents that are accepted is given in the site
http://passport.gov.in/pms/EMIGRATION%20CHECK%20NOT%20REQUIRED%20STAMP.htm

Step 6: Take three copies of Xerox of each of these documents and self attest them. Sign it yourself. No need for attestation by gazetted officers.

Step 7: Then you must arm yourself with an address proof stating that you are in fact staying in Karnataka if you are planning to go the Bangalore office.

For this you can take any government id like Ration card with your name and landline phone number. This will be a problem if you are bachelor or do not use any government provided services.

Don’t worry. You can take your latest lease agreement, internet bills where your name and address are published, gas connection book if it is in your name, any bank letters or an address proof letter from the bank, bank statements etc:-

In case any of this is not with you, you can get an address proof letter from your company HR. but make sure you take all the address proofs that you can lay your hands on. I took my lease agreements, gas connection bills, my internet bills, my insurance coverage letters, and my check books where my address was printed.

Step 7: All these must have three Xerox copies and once this is done you can start your journey top the RPO.

Step 8: make sure you reach there early. Around 8: 30 will be good enough. There will be some people there filling forms. You can ask them to check your form. They will ask 10 Rs which is reasonable enough. (P.S> the form is simple enough to fill yourself)

Step 9: wish the officer and be pleasant in your manners. They appreciate that. You can ask them if you have any doubts they will clarify them.

Step 10: Once ether are satisfied they will stamp the deleted endorsement and give you the passport in half an hour.

In case you still have any questions, just ask any registered and well reputed travel agency. Do not believe in touts. In Bangalore the service is very cool. So no need to worry and best of luck

Ciao!!! Drop me a thanks message if this was helpful to you and share your experience in case there was any change in the procedure.
